The Shriver Report details how the world of work is changing dramatically now that women are 50% of the workforce.  Read it or skim it here:  http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2009/10/womans_nation.html/#executive_summary

My thoughts?

Hate the title.  In order for the world of work to change we need to make it inclusive…not exclusive.  No more talk about women vs. men or families vs. non please.  Workplace flex is for all.

Yes workplaces need to become more flexible or risk losing workers and happily 80% of men and women polled for this report agree

I haven’t gotten through all of it yet.  But big implications here for corporate America and the world of HR.  More soon.

Flexible Fact

Among working mothers with minor children (ages 17 and under), just one-in-five (21%) say full-time work is the ideal situation for them, down from the 32% who said this back in 1997, according to a new Pew Research Center survey.
