<description>I can tell who has a flexible job and kids by the flow of email into my in box. Each night, there is a lull at dinnertime and then a surge around 9pm, when people start getting their kids to bed.

Flexibility has allowed parents to stop working when their kids get out of school and start up again when they go to bed. It makes sense to run a workday this way anyway. The old way -- 9-5 seems leftover from agrarian times when people worked during daylight.
